What are the current opportunities and challenges that support or discourage active lifestyles in Summit County?
The Built Environment Policy forum, scheduled from 7-9 pm, Thursday, June 10th at the Summit County Community & Senior Center near Frisco, seeks to answer this question through facilitated discussion about smart growth, active community environments, walkability and bikability in our mountain community.
Co-hosted by the Summit Prevention Alliance and Our Future Summit, the event is part of an initiative conducted by LiveWell Colorado designed to ensure healthy and active community growth throughout the state.
The mission of LiveWell Colorado is to inspire and advance policy, environmental and lifestyle changes that promote health through the prevention and reduction of obesity. Information gathered at the June 1oth forum will be used to formulate a Built Environment Policy Blueprint.
According to LiveWell Summit County coordinator Joanna Rybak, the Thursday evening gathering seeks the perspectives of community members, engineers, developers, planners, as well as transportation, parks & recreation, and school district personnel. Contact her at 908-591-8701 or at Joanna@summitpreventionalliance.org for additional details and a copy of the agenda.
