From the Candidate

Our first radio ad! Another milestone for the campaign.  As a first time campaigner it was a learning process for me as we discussed the purpose of the ad and how we would approach the medium of radio.

In the end, I wanted an ad that would force my opponent to come out of his bunker and respond to our requests for debates on the issues and topics that had been identified in the primary as important to all the constituents in the fifth district.  We have agreed to all his debates while he has said no to Colorado Veterans for America, the League of Women Voters, The Students at Colorado College and the NAACP.  He will not even commit times for the debates for which he has agreed to participate.

It worked.  We were able to incorporate quotes from the public domain that forced Lamborn to respond, on the Joseph Michelli show, that he would show up for a debate. What became obvious is that Lamborn is using delaying tactics to force any and all debates to be set after the mailing of the absentee ballots.

We have now grabbed Lamborn’s attention and now have the opportunity to discuss issues in an open forum so voters are not cheated out of the opportunity to hear the candidates’ views before they vote.  This has been our goal from the very beginning.  Lamborn hasn’t even updated his website since the primary, leaving voters uninformed on his stance regarding the issues.  Now we’ll all get the opportunity to hear them.

Less than seven weeks to go and we continue to build momentum.  Thanks again to all of you for your support.
