LAURIE HARVEY'S BE BOLD AWARD!
In another bit of terrific news, the Women’s Foundation of Colorado honored our very own Laurie Harvey with a special one-time “Be Bold Award” this past November at the Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Luncheon. Laurie was one of 20 inspiring women from across the state of Colorado recognized for her leadership in positively impacting women and girls’ economic self-sufficiency. Cokie Roberts was the key-note speaker at this year’s Women’s Foundation of Colorado luncheon attended by more than 2,700 people.
Laurie has served as Executive Director of CWEE since 1988. Because she has long been active in the front lines of policy development and program implementation in the areas of welfare reform and workforce development, both locally and nationally, this was an especially proud day for all of us at CWEE. Please join us in congratulating Laurie on her award when next you see her.
CWEE PROGRAM PROFILE:
WORKNET SOLUTIONS TRAINING
CWEE is pleased to announce a grant from the Community First Foundation’s Strengthening Partners Grant Program. With the help of this grant funding CWEE is excited to be providing training from WorkNet Solutions which will address our primary program objective: to increase our job placement services and outcomes.
CWEE serves a population with many challenging obstacles. On average, a CWEE participant is a single mother with 3 children. 100% of CWEE’s participants are low-income, just over 46% are homeless (in a shelter, living with family or moving from one temporary situation to another) and many are at risk of becoming homeless.
By attending CWEE, participants are provided individualized education, training, and job readiness tools. Therefore, graduates improve their earning potential, raise their confidence, and increase the likelihood that he/she is able to support his/her family.
WorkNet Solutions Training covers the entire career development process including issues of motivation, fear, decision-making, assessment, career exploration, retention, advancement, program design, etc. WorkNet Solution’s range of tools and materials work for job seekers and career transitioners at all levels. Today’s business culture is about where they are going and not where they are coming from. WorkNet Solutions training approach starts with the person, not the labor market and is directly in-line with the holistic approach of CWEE’s job-readiness program.

CORPORATE PARTNER PROFILE: WELLS FARGO
Did you know that Wells Fargo stagecoaches first became a fixture across the Colorado landscape in 1861 when the Civil War forced the overland stages to a more northerly route via Denver and Salt Lake City? Just a few years later in 1865, the company adopted a national charter as First National Bank of Denver, more commonly known for more than a century as “First of Denver.” From its earliest days, even through the Great Depression, Wells Fargo banks in Colorado have remained open to serve customers.
Wells Fargo is one of Colorado’s largest private employers with its regional headquarters located in Denver. The Wells Fargo Center and is one of the tallest office buildings in downtown Denver. Its uniquely curved roofline creates a distinctive feature in the Denver skyline.
An integral part of Wells Fargo’s business philosophy is supporting the communities it serves. In 2007, Wells Fargo contributed approximately $4 million to 1,000 non-profit organizations and schools in Colorado alone. In the early 80's, Wells Fargo became one of CWEE's first corporate supporters and is proud to continue to support CWEE’s Investing in Success Luncheon as a Gold Level Sponsor in 2008. DaLinda Grimm is Senior Vice President – Regional Development Manager for Wells Fargo and joined CWEE's board in 2006 as Board Secretary. DaLinda volunteers her time and talents to CWEE and helps forge our strong partnership with her company. For more information on Wells Fargo please visit: www.wellsfargo.com
CWEE SUPPORTER PROFILE NADINE VON STORCH:
Nadine von Storch came to a CWEE luncheon twelve years ago and has become a permanent fixture with our organization ever since. While working for the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce she was invited to her first CWEE luncheon. For the next few years she didn’t miss an event and sat at Rhondda Grant’s table. Rhondda asked Nadine to co-chair the luncheon which she graciously did for the next five years. Then, in 2000 she started her stretch on the board for the next seven years, including Board Chair in 2004 and 2005. Nadine says she supports CWEE “because I know the program works. Few agencies have the success rate that CWEE does.” Though Nadine left the board in 2007 she still maintains her never-ending dedication to CWEE in countless ways. We are lucky to have Nadine as a friend.
CWEE YEAR END APPEAL - A GREAT SUCCESS!

Also, a special thanks to Community Banks of Colorado who increased their year-end match from $10,000 to $15,000 because of CWEE's overwhelming response from our charitable donors!
